Ebbsfleet United have taken striker Andy Pugh on a month's loan from Cambridge United.

The 24-year-old has struggled with injuries in recent times and has not made a competitive appearance for the U's this season.

Pugh's arrival comes two days after the Fleet were beaten 2-0 at home by Chelmsford.

Manager Steve Brown said in his post-match interview that he had lost patience with certain players and was considering loan deal options.

Pugh goes straight into the squad for Ebbsfleet's home game against Boreham Wood in The Skrill South on Saturday.

He began his career at Gillingham and had loan spells with Welling, Maidstone, Folkestone and Dover before joining Welling permanently in summer 2010.

Pugh scored 18 goals in his first season with the Wings and duly attracted the attention of higher-ranked clubs. After an unsuccessful trial at Leyton Orient, he signed for Cambridge in January 2012.

He played 26 league games for United last season, scoring four times.

Pugh was sent-off playing against Ebbsfleet last December, a game the U's won 4-2 at Stonebridge Road.

Cambridge boss Richard Money said: "We are sending Andy out to get some games.

"It's not a long-term thing, he's gone to get some games and some match fitness as he has missed a lot of football."
