Ebbsfleet United hoping to sign more players after landing Corey Whitely from Dagenham & Redbridge

Ebbsfleet hope Corey Whitely won't be their only new signing this week.

Whitely, having arrived for an undisclosed fee from National League rivals Dagenham & Redbridge, came off the bench to score on his debut at Halifax on Saturday.

But Fleet, who made bids for two other Daggers players last week, are still active in the transfer market and will continue to pursue those targets.

"There's one or two others we're looking at and we'll find out in the next few days about them," said manager Daryl McMahon, who doesn't expect any deals to be finalised before Woking visit the Kuflink Stadium on Tuesday night.

"It was the perfect start for Corey on Saturday," McMahon added.

"He met his team-mates on the bus on the way up to Halifax and we trained at Sheffield United on Friday.

"He didn't get to know them - he still doesn't know them! He's only seen them for very limited time over Friday night and back on Saturday.

"He'll get to know people over the coming weeks and get to know the strengths and weaknesses of the players he's playing with but it was a good start for him.

"It's a great way to introduce yourself and be welcomed by your team-mates and the fans straight away.

"He was a player I didn't think we'd get to be honest. He was very close to a Football League move in January, Dagenham turned some bids down for him and he ended up being one we could get so we jumped at the chance.

"He's very talented, hungry to be successful, a good dribbler with good pace and he's a good goalscorer so he'll be a real asset for us going forward.

"He's a quick thinker as well. He needs to get fit because he hasn't played a lot lately so he's lacking a bit of match sharpness."

Fleet are just three points outside the play-offs ahead of the Woking game.
