Ebbsfleet United boss Daryl McMahon waiting for news on the injury Danny Kedwell sustained at Concord Rangers

Ebbsfleet are waiting for news on Danny Kedwell's injury.

The captain left Concord's ground with his leg strapped on Tuesday night after taking a whack during the second half of Fleet's 1-0 win in Essex.

With three other strikers already sidelined, Ebbsfleet manager Daryl McMahon can scarcely afford to lose Kedwell too.

McMahon said: "He’s sore at the minute. We don’t know how he’s going to be, we’ll find out Thursday when he comes in to training.

"Hopefully he’s going to be OK. It’s an impact injury so hopefully it’s not too bad."

Whatever the prognosis, Kedwell won't be rushed back if there's a risk the injury could be aggravated further.

"We won’t let that happen," McMahon said. "We probably could have pushed Stuey Lewis on Tuesday to play but I don’t want him breaking down either.

"We’ve gone precautionary to make sure we have people back for the whole season.

"We can't afford any more injuries."

Ebbsfleet are top of the early National South table after taking six points from their first two games. Dave Winfield's first goal for the club proved to be the winner at Concord.

McMahon said: "It was a very good finish and he rolled his man really well to create the space for himself. It was a good finish and defending-wise, he was outstanding.

"Jack Connors was terrific as well, stepping in front of their winger and starting counter-attacks.

"It was a good win. I thought we played really well in the first half and got into positions to create a number of chances but the second half was a bit of an ugly game. Not a lot happened.

"We hit the post from Sammy and they had one cleared off the line with Kissy. It was a good win and a clean sheet as well."
