Daryl McMahon insists there are enough characters in Ebbsfleet’s squad to cope with the pressure of the title run-in.

Fleet are 11 points clear at the top of National League South but their closest rivals have three games in hand.

McMahon’s side, although unbeaten in seven matches, have won just one of their last five following a 2-2 draw at home to Havant & Waterlooville on Tuesday night.

But the manager said: “We had some real men on the pitch – Rance, Lewis, Kissock, Kedwell, McLean, Godden. They’re men, they don’t fear anything.

“The majority of the time they make good decisions and I don’t think it’ll affect them.

“We’re top of the table and we’ve been there since September. It’s hard to lead from the front and I don’t think many teams have done it.

“We’re leading the pack, they’re chasing us. They’ve got to win their games in hand to close the gap on us and we’ve just got to keep ticking points off and hopefully ticking more wins off.

Ebbsfleet are back at home on Saturday for a third game in eight days with fourth-placed Gosport the visitors to Stonebridge Road.
