Garry Hill is the new Ebbsfleet United manager.

He succeeds Daryl McMahon, who left the club by mutual consent on Wednesday.

Hill, the former Dagenham & Redbridge and Woking manager, will take charge of his first game on Saturday when Fleet host Cheltenham in the FA Cup first round.

Hill won the Ryman League title with Dagenham in 1999/2000 and almost led them into the Football League two years later.

The Daggers finished second to Boston United on goal-difference, having been third in their first Conference campaign.

After a spell at Hornchurch, Hill achieved a second promotion to the Conference with Weymouth in 2005/06.

He spent two years at Rushden & Diamonds and led Woking to the Conference South title in 2011/12.

Hill was at Kingfield for six full seasons, with the Cards in what is now the National League for five of those.

Their best finish under Hill was seventh in 2014/15 but his final season in charge was a relegation battle.

Hill kept Woking up on the final day of the 2016/17 campaign and has been out of management since then.

Hill said: "I am delighted and honoured to be given this opportunity at such a club.

"I’ve managed against the Fleet at pretty much every club I’ve been with, they’ve always been tough games and I know the expectation and the history here.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge ahead and getting going in the National League again.

"It’s a capable squad here at Ebbsfleet and I’ll be meeting and speaking to the players later on this morning.

"We’ll get straight down to business and with an important FA Cup tie coming up this Saturday, it’s vital we all hit the ground running. I can’t wait to get going, this is a fantastic football club and the hard work starts now.”

Ebbsfleet chairman Dr Abdulla Al Humaidi told the club's website: “We have moved quickly to appoint Garry. He has a proven track record in almost 30 years of management and his exceptional experience was what stood out for us when considering who to entrust with the next steps forward for this club.

"I am delighted Garry is on board and I hope all Fleet fans will rally behind the club and the manager as we seek to climb back up the table.”
