Northfleet Technology College’s Basketball Academy impressed in their first European Championship appearance.
In Roseto, Italy, they finished with three group wins and a loss, beating undefeated CAB Stamura Ancona in front of their hometown crowd to round off the group stages.
They came from 11 points down as they went on a 17-2 run to win 72-64.
Overall, Northfleet Technology College ended the tournament second in the group, also coming out on top against NABA (64-56) and Unibasket Lanciano (78-60).
Coach Martin Parry said: “To say we’re proud is an understatement.
“Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would win three games against some of the top Academies across Europe.”
David Okaeben won the team Most Valuable Player award for the tournament while Harrison King was selected in the all-star side for the top five players.
Both are in the top-20 points scorers for the competition so far with the next set of group games in February in Bucharest, Romania, after which a group winner will be named.
