Daryl McMahon admitted Ebbsfleet's latest performance in National South was not good enough.

Fleet led Hemel Hempstead twice on Saturday but it finished 2-2 at Stonebridge Road - the title favourites letting a winning position slip for the third match running.

Home fans voiced their displeasure at full-time and McMahon said: "They’re right. It’s not good enough.

"I pride myself on being honest and I can’t defend the performance today or the performance on Tuesday (when Fleet drew 1-1 with 10-man Whitehawk).

"I will back the boys to the hilt when we play well but the performance today was poor and so was the second half on Tuesday night. It’s something we’ve got to change quickly.

"We need some more men on the pitch to be honest. We need people that are not scared to make decisions. I don’t hear enough voices, I don’t see enough people pulling people about, I don’t see enough of that.

"We’ve got a player in Mark Phillips who gives us that and I can’t wait to get him on the pitch."

Sean Shields put the Fleet 2-1 up after Danny Kedwell had missed a penalty but within 60 seconds, Hemel had equalised for a second time.

McMahon said: "It was really a schoolboy goal to concede. We’re going through a stage of missed opportunities and individual errors that are costing us.

"It’s not good defending and you can’t keep giving teams goals, especially here at home. We need to make this a fortress and it’s not at the minute. We need to turn it into that."
