Grays 2 Gravesend & N 0
GRAVESEND and Northfleet’s winning run came to an end last night when they were beaten at Grays. The Fleet rarely looked like getting into the game and were fortunate that goalkeeper Adrian Blake was in excellent form, making at least three good saves in the opening period.
But the on-loan keeper was powerless to stop Grays taking the lead after 18 minutes when Aaron Barnett diverted a left wing cross into his own net. The second half saw the home side content to sit on their one-goal advantage against the Ryman League, Premier Division leaders.
But they made the most of some poor defending by Fleet with 15 minutes remaining when Thomas slotted home after a long ball over the top by Grays.
Gravesend did have a chance to grab a consolation goal late on but Liam Hatch was denied by a superb save by the home goalkeeper.
