Ebbsfleet’s new star Jordan Parkes has described the moment he took his goal tally to a remarkable seven in nine games on Tuesday night.

Parkes swept a brilliant shot into the top corner in the 56th minute of the Fleet’s clash with Sutton United at Stonebridge Road on Tuesday night.

It turned out to be the winner, extending their unbeaten start in Vanarama National League South to nine matches.

"It came out sweet from the boot," said Parkes. "Kiss (JP Kissock) dribbled inside, I pulled a little check to the edge of the box, he pulled it to me and I felt it come out lovely, right in the top corner. I was buzzing.

"My first five goals were all tap-ins. After last season, where I think I only scored three inside the box, I was thinking ‘am I going to get a nice couple?’ but the last two have been decent strikes.

"I’m happy. I know what my game’s about and it’s about getting in the box and scoring goals and being creative.

"As long as I’m doing that for the team and the team’s winning, I’m very happy."

Victory saw Ebbsfleet dish out another blow to one of their promotion rivals.

Parkes said: "It’s massive for us. Sutton had a bad season last year but they
were always going to be a big side this time. They’ve acquired some good players this season.

"Every game for us now is big but we knew that if we won this one, we’d be flying.

"We said as we went into the changing room that it’s like the feeling that you’ve won the league.

"When you battle and you get a 1-0 result, save a penalty in the last minute and everyone’s putting everything into it, there’s nothing better."
