Garry Hill's wife might have been celebrating Ebbsfleet's derby draw at Dover as much as anyone else.

Hill was in a foul mood after losing at home to Aldershot on Saturday and admitted he wasn't good company back at home.

But the manager was buzzing after the game at Crabble, with Fleet playing much better as it finished 1-1.

"I’m very pleased tonight," Hill said. "I haven’t had a good week in any way or form.

"It affects me because I’m very passionate about football. We all show it in different ways.

"I’m a fair man, I’m an honest man and I’m straight down the line but it affects me probably more than anybody, it really does.

"From Saturday, it’s been tough in my house, living with me and that’s how it’s been for 38 years since we’ve been married. She probably gets used to it but it’s not fair."

Ayo Obileye broke the deadlock with his first goal for the club before Will De Havilland equalised for Dover in the second half.

Hill said: "I’m really pleased for those supporters. It’s always tough where you are in the league but that’s three results out of four and you could feel it in the changing-room at the end.

"I haven’t seen players hugging each other like that, and myself; it’s a big relief because it means a lot to these players and it means a lot to me and my staff.

"We know we’re not a bad side. We were very poor on Saturday but that’s given us something to build on, that kind of commitment and performance, because that’s what we expect.

"It was a proper game. I really enjoyed that because it was on the edge.

"We weren’t sitting back, we were pushed back but we were breaking with pace, getting our chances and we stood toe-to-toe. We looked very competitive and that’s a big factor for us."

Hill openly criticised his players after the Aldershot defeat and it was such a poor performance they could have had no complaints.

"That workload is what we have to do," he said after the Dover game. "It wasn’t there on Saturday.

"We didn’t have enough leaders on Saturday, we didn’t have enough people showing to get on the ball Saturday, we didn’t have enough tackles going in Saturday, we didn’t do enough Saturday and that’s why we were in on Sunday.

"That’s how we’ll try to build and turn it around. We’re keen to turn it round, we want to turn it round, we’re not bad players, we’re not a bad management team, we’ve got great support behind us but that is what we’ve got to do and it’s given us a base.

"It’s two draws and a win in the last four. That’s three games out of four and if someone said to me over the next four games would you take three results out of the next four, whatever way they come, I’d take them.

"It’s hard when you’ve got the start we’ve had this season, when you’re building and playing two games a week and things are going against you, a lot of individual mistakes but we never crumbled when they equalised tonight. It meant we had to stand bigger and stronger and we did that."

Tyler Cordner, having joined Ebbsfleet on loan from Bournemouth, made an impressive debut alongside Jack King at centre-half.

Hill said: "The boy is very highly rated at Bournemouth and it's a great coup for this club to get him until January.

"League clubs were looking to take him and I don’t what know what happened but I got a phone call at 4.10pm on Monday and all credit to Peter Danzey, the secretary, because he got him signed on at 4.58pm before the deadline.

"It’s a great signing for us."
