Ebbsfleet United set to bolster their strikeforce after Charlie Sheringham joined Ben May in the treatment room

Ebbsfleet are set to sign a new striker after losing Charlie Sheringham to injury ahead of a hectic Christmas fixture period.
Sheringham had an operation last Thursday to sort out a troublesome groin problem and he may not play again until February. Ben May, meanwhile, who hasn’t featured at all this season, has yet to resume full training.
That leaves Billy Bricknell and Matt Godden as the only fit centre-forwards available to manager Jamie Day going into a run of four games in nine days next week.
Day said: "I think we need to strengthen in that area, purely on the basis of the injuries we’ve got to key forwards. That’s something we’ll look to do over the next week or so.
"There’s a couple of players we’re interested in, so I’ll speak to Peter (Varney) and see if we can make that happen.
"We have a list, me and the staff, of players we like, so we’ll look at that list over the next couple of days and see if we can get one or two players in to bolster the squad.
"Now we’re going to have four games in the next week so we need to make sure we’ve got enough players to be able to rotate round and not weaken the squad at any time."
Ebbsfleet entertain Weston-super-Mare in Vanarama Conference South on Saturday and their FA Trophy replay at Welling - postponed in midweek - has been rescheduled for Tuesday night. Then follows a trip to Chelmsford on Boxing Day (Friday) before Basingstoke visit the PHB Stadium on Sunday, December 28.
