The British Superbike Championship returns to Brands Hatch this weekend to finish what it started in April.

A blizzard forced the season opener to be cancelled before racing could commence, but the doors will be swung open again on Sunday, to finally complete proceedings.

Qualification places remain as they were back in April so championship leader Shane Byrne will start on pole.

Sittingbourne’s Byrne swept aside all-comers last weekend with a double victory at Oulton Park.

Those wins give hima 38-point gap over second-placed man Leon Camier, from Ashford, who like Byrne ridesfor Airwaves Ducati.

“I’m absolutely ecstatic with those results for the team’s hard work,” said Byrne.

April’s snow-shower proved costly for Motorsport Vision, who own Brands Hatch, and chief executive Jonathan Palmer couldn’t wait to get the show back on.

“It was the most depressing day for me in the running of Brands Hatch,” he said.

“It will cost us in the region of £250,000 and that’s a huge blow to our year.

“I’m looking forward to it again. It’s going to be phenomenal and we can put the nightmares, the pain and the memories of it all behind us.”

Adult gate tickets on Sunday cost £28 while children 12 and under go free. Race day tickets for April’s meeting remain vaild.

Warm-up on Sunday begins at 10.25am with racing at 1.15pm and 4.20pm.
