Ebbsfleet must put the Concord Rangers floodlight debacle to the back of their minds when they start a crucial Easter double-header at home to Eastbourne Borough on Friday.

Players, supporters and staff were angry on Tuesday night when the Fleet's game in Essex was abandoned because of floodlight failure.

But they can't afford to dwell on their frustrating trip to Canvey Island. Two wins over the Easter weekend, with a trip to struggling Maidenhead coming up on Bank Holiday Monday, would all but secure their place in the Skrill South play-offs.

Speaking after the Concord game, Ebbsfleet manager Steve Brown said: "We’re all angry. The fact of the matter is that we’ve got to come back here. The only good thing is that the result at Eastleigh went for us (they beat Dover 1-0). The worst-case scenario would have been you come off the pitch and they’ve won, which they haven’t.

"Psychologically, we shouldn’t be too damaged. We know we've come here and got ourselves ahead (2-0) and Dover lost. We just look now to Eastbourne Borough on Friday. That’s all we can do.

"I’ve got some thoughts in my head and I don’t know when we’re going to have to come back here (to Concord) but if we have to come back and the play-off spot’s secure, I’ve got some thoughts in my head about what we’d do.

"First and foremost, though, that takes a back seat. Let’s get six points from Friday and Monday now. If we get that, it takes out what we have to do if we have to come back here. It’s irrelevant."

Ebbsfleet have already played Eastbourne twice this season. They drew 1-1 in the reverse league fixture in August and knocked the Sports out of the FA Cup in October, with Ben May scoring both goals in a 2-0 win.

Kick-off at Stonebridge Road on Friday is at 3pm.
