Ebbsfleet are close to completing their purchase of Fleet Leisure in a move manager Steve Brown believes will help his transfer quest.

Brown's predecessor, Liam Daish, ran training sessions on the pitch at Stonebridge Road after the Fleet were locked out of their previous base at AEI Sports Club in 2009.

However, KEH Sports – Ebbsfleet's new Kuwaiti owners – are buying Fleet Leisure out of administration, with the final paperwork being signed this week.

Brown's coaching credentials have played a big part in attracting new players to Ebbsfleet over the past couple of weeks. And now the club's infrastructure is starting to match his ambitions and those of the new Fleet board.

Brown said: "It's massive for me and it’s a huge selling point to the players as well.

"A lot of clubs at this level are scratching around to find an astroturf or a bit of grass. In the last two months of my time at Dover, I was on a 50x40 bit of grass at Corinthian.

"It's a huge draw for players. The plans that Peter (Varney) has drawn up with KEH are impressive and it's just a case of getting that started as quickly as we can.

"It certainly will be a much easier draw for myself and Steve (Gritt) to pull players in once we've got the training ground up and running."
