Ebbsfleet are looking to take a Conference scalp this weekend when they host Forest Green Rovers in the FA Trophy.

A place in the last 16 will be Fleet’s if they can find a way past Ady Pennock’s side in the second-round tie at the PHB Stadium.

Ebbsfleet boss Jamie Day, a good friend of Pennock’s, is keen to progress but he knows there are bigger fish to fry.

He said: "We need to get in the play-offs. That’s the aim.

"The FA Trophy is a nice little sidetrack, providing you have a big enough squad. But if you don’t, it can be a bit of a hindrance having to play more games.

"I want to win every game but the league is the most important thing. Our aim is to be playing teams like Forest Green every week."

Anthony Acheampong starts a two-match ban this weekend after being sent-off for the second time this season in the last round of the Trophy against Welling.

That leaves Day short in defence, with Shane Huke nursing a cut foot and Kenny Clark having missed Sunday’s win over Boreham Wood through illness.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Preston Edwards could be set for his first appearance in almost four months.

Brandon Hall has started every game since Edwards was dismissed at Hayes & Yeading (the red card was later rescinded) but with Hall suspended for next Saturday’s trip to Sutton and Edwards having recovered from a shoulder injury, Day may decide to bring the 25-year-old back a week early.

The winners will bank £6,000 in prize money.
