FOUR women were taken to hospital after a crash in the centre of a Kent seaside town.

A Citreon Saxa car, a Peugeot car and Volkswagen panel van were in collision in the High Street, Herne Bay, near the junction with the Beach Street at about 8pm on Monday night.

The Peugeot ended up on its side and the roof had to be cut off by firefighters from Kent Fire and Rescue Service to enable the driver and two passengers to get out.

They were taken to QEQM Hospital at Margate along with the Citreon driver to be treated for injuries described as not life threatening.

Kent Police are investigating the collison and would like to talk to any witnesses to the crash who have not yet spoken to officers.

They would also like to speak to anyone who saw the Citreon at McDonalds at Chestfield earlier in the evening where an altercation is understood to have taken place involving the driver and possibly those in a small white van (not the one involved in the collision) or a red car.

From there, say police, it was driven to the Neptune car park in Herne Bay and then through the town to where the crash took place.
