00:00, 19 May 2005
POLICE are investigating after a man claimed that he was robbed of his car at gunpoint on the Thanet Way, near Herne Bay.
The victim says he was pulled over by an unmarked car with blue flashing lights on top.
He claims two men wearing “police style” shirts then pointed what appeared to be a firearm at him and demanded the keys to his R registration Lexus LS 400. The victim says he was told to lie down in a field and not to move.
The man flagged down a passing motorist at about 4am on Monday and was taken to Herne Bay police station.
Police would particularly like to speak to the motorist who picked him up. Anyone who can help is asked to contact contact Det Con Ian Dyball on 01227 762055.
