Hit and run at Herne Bay horse field
11:10, 05 December 2017
A driver left a trail of damage after crashing into a horse field and fleeing the scene.
The motorist drove through a fence opposite Studds Farm on the Whitstable Road in Herne Bay.
The suspect managed to drive off before neighbours arrived to repair the fence and prevent the horse, Max, from leaving the field.
Max’s owner, Kerry Riley, was pleased that her neighbours were on hand to repair the fence.
“I’m grateful they came over to make sure it was secure until I got there,” she said.
“I wouldn’t have been very happy if my horse ran into the road because it would have been dangerous – it was dark and he’s a black horse.
“Max was too busy eating, though. He’s pretty laid back.”
Parts of the car, including its front fog lights, were found by Ms Riley, who believes they are from a Ford Fiesta.
The crash happened at 10.30pm on Saturday night.
Ms Riley has appealed for anyone with information to call police on 101, quoting the incident reference number 04-0447.
