Seafront arcades were cordoned off by police after staff were told a young boy had been kidnapped.
Employees alerted police after the claim was made by another boy at Cain’s Amusements in Central Parade, Herne Bay.
A section of the arcade was taped off by police while officers reviewed CCTV following the concerning report on Saturday afternoon.
It was quickly established that no kidnap had taken place and the boy in question had left the arcade with a responsible adult known to him.
Police spokesman Amanda Wills said: “We received a call at 4.50pm following concern for the welfare of a child.
“This call was made in good faith. However, inquiries established that the child was safe and well.”
