Arrest made after armed police respond to reports of man with gun in Mortimer Street, Herne Bay

A man has been arrested after armed police responded to reports of someone seen carrying a weapon.
Officers were sent to Mortimer Street, Herne Bay, after the alarm was raised at about 5.50pm.
A police spokesman said: "Officers attended, including a firearms unit, and a man was arrested and taken into custody.
"Two suspected air guns have been located and seized.
"Police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident."
Before making the arrest, the officers had gathered in a nearby Aldi car park as shocked shoppers looked on.
