Bid to snatch woman's handbag

A 50-year-old-woman managed to keep hold of her handbag after a man tried to steal it as she walked along the street.
The woman had initially become suspicious when the man walked towards her. She crossed the road but so did the man.
After they had passed each other, the man suddenly turned round and made an unsuccessful attempt to take the bag from her shoulder.
The offender is described as a stocky white man with dark brown hair and wearing dark clothes. The incident happened at Grange Road at Herne Bay at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, January 4.
