New Reculver Towers camping and touring site needs someone to run it
15:30, 12 November 2015
A new camping and touring site at Reculver Towers is in need of an operator.
Canterbury City Council is looking for someone experienced to invest in and run the business from April to September each year.
It’s offered with a lease of up to 20 years and an initial rent free period will also be considered.
Facilities such as an access road and some buildings already exist as the site has been used for static caravans in the past.
Up to 120 camping and touring caravan pitches could be accommodated on the six-and-a-half acre site.
The council has further plans to improve the area in 2016, with a new children’s play area due to open, room for motor homes and better car parking.
Chairman of the council’s Regeneration and Property Committee, Cllr Ben Fitter-Harding, said: “We’ve already carried out public consultation on the future use of this land and there was strong support for camping facilities, with almost 90% of people in favour.
“It’s a great opportunity for someone to take on because it’s a beautiful location that is already popular with visitors, and exciting plans lie ahead.
“We are expecting lots of interest.”
