Herne Bay: Dog rescued as car submerged in sea

A man smashed the back window of a 4x4 to rescue his dog after the vehicle ended up in the sea.
Coastguard crews were called to Herne Bay after the Nissan X-Trail became submerged at about 5.20am.
The man was said to have been testing out the vehicle on a boat ramp when it ended up in the water near Swalecliffe Avenue car park.

Herne Bay coastguard Gordon Sinclair said: “There were no casualties and nobody was hurt.
“The gentleman smashed the back window to get his dog out.
“When we left the scene the vehicle was still slightly submerged.”
As the tide went out, the car could still be seen on the beach at 10am.
It has no number plates attached.
