A coastguard helicopter seen hovering over Reculver cliffs tonight was on an exercise.
The chopper - based at Lydd Airport - was spotted a number of times between 5pm and 10pm with its search lights on.
The coastguard says it was piloted by a crew familiarising themselves with the area.
They have taken over search and rescue duties from the RAF at Wittisham.
