A dad accused of murdering his daughter at a caravan park on the outskirts of Canterbury has not entered a plea to the charge as he is still being assessed by a psychiatrist.
Richard Kray, 63, is alleged to have strangled 19-year-old Olivia Kray at Westlands in Canterbury Road, Herne Common, on July 21.
The teenager, described by a friend as a “beautiful young lady”, died at the scene opposite Canterbury Garden Centre.
Kray is also accused of attempting to murder his ex-partner Damyantee Cowan, who is her 60s, by strangling her on the same day at her home in Gordon Road, Herne Bay.
Appearing at Maidstone Crown Court via videolink from the Trevor Gibbens Unit at Maidstone Hospital today, he spoke only to confirm his identity.
His lawyer, Sara Haroon, told the judge a psychiatric report will be ready by next Friday.
Judge Philip Statman said: “It is very important indeed that we get the report sorted out. No doubt the doctor understands that as well. There must not be slippage.
“It is absolutely critical we impress on all parties how important it is we keep to our timetable.”
The judge was told no members of Olivia’s family were in court.
A trial date has been set for January 15 next year. A pre-trial review will be held in the week beginning December 11.
A previous hearing was told Kray was not fit to be interviewed following his arrest.
