Shortly after, a second vehicle travelling London-bound came off the road.

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 5.51am on Tuesday 15 October to a report that a car had struck the central reservation on the eastbound carriageway of the A299 Thanet Way near Reculver.

“A second vehicle travelling near the same location in the opposite direction is also reported to have left the carriageway.

“Officers, paramedics and fire crews attended the scene where the motorist from the first collision reported minor injuries and the driver of the westbound vehicle was treated for injuries.”

The coast-bound carriageway was partially closed while the vehicle was recovered, but has since reopened. The London-bound side is also now clear.

Traffic had returned to normal by 8am.
