Driver John Jolly charged over student Stephin Thomas’s death

A man has been charged with causing the death of a Canterbury College student by driving dangerously.
John Jolly, of St Lawrence Road, Canterbury, is alleged to have been unfit to drive through drink when his VW Golf careered off the A291 Canterbury Road and into a fence.
Stephin Thomas, 19, was killed in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.
Jolly, 25, was arrested after the accident, which happened on May 22 near the junction with Bullockstone Road in Herne Common.
He has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink and is due to appear in court next Friday.
