Ukip leader Nigel Farage kept his promise to return to Herne Bay by visiting the party campaign office today.
Mr Farage greeted surprised shoppers in Mortimer Street on a walkabout, and enjoyed fish and chips for lunch. He then went to the Firkin Frog micropub in Station Road as part of the whistle stop visit.
In January he was forced to abandon his visit when protesters gathered outside the party’s office, preventing him from meeting potential voters, but vowed to return.
Talking about his previous no-show he said: “Normally I don’t get that kind of reaction. But there are a few people who act outside of the political process.
“It is frustrating that it does happen. But the worst thing to do is give these people more publicity.”
