Firefighters tackle fire in West Blean and Thornden Woods, Herne Bay
20:50, 28 March 2017
Firefighters are tackling a blaze in woodland near Herne Bay.
Crews in four fire engines and an all-terrain vehicle were called to West Blean and Thornden Woods in Braggs Lane just before 7.30pm.
Teams are using Flex packs - portable water tanks with a spray device - to douse the flames.
A fire service spokesman explained: "Four fire engines have been sent to the area along with an all terrain vehicle.
"This is an eight wheeled vehicle that can get firefighters and equipment to remote, hard to reach areas such as woods and moorlands that would be difficult for a traditional heavy fire engine to reach.
"They have the versatility to tackle grassland fires in restricted rural areas. Firefighters are also using flex packs to tackle the blaze."
