A gym chain has unveiled plans for a new club and spa creating up to 100 jobs.
David Lloyd Leisure has eyed land opposite Sainsbury’s at Altria Park in Herne Bay.
The fitness and wellness giant hopes to secure planning permission for the project later this year.
A new “state of the art” gym will be included if plans go ahead, as well as heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
There will also be group exercise studios, indoor soft play, a kids’ club, tennis, padel, pickleball, badminton and a spa retreat and garden for premium members.
Bosses say it would create 80 to 100 jobs, as well as 60 construction roles.
New clubs acquisition director Stuart Caswell stated: “Altira Park is a fantastic development, easily accessible for people in Herne Bay and surrounding communities and we are delighted to be part of its promising future.
“Our plan is to construct a state-of-the-art health and wellness Club that not only enhances the area and creates a range of new jobs and opportunities for the local community, but also reflects the needs of people living in the area”.
The fitness chain recently unveiled similar proposals for a new club in Ashford.
It would be built on a site previously earmarked for an Amazon warehouse.
It is not yet clear how much membership fees will cost at either of the planned gyms, but in Dartford, prices start from £139 a month.
It increases to £219 per month for the ‘diamond package’ which includes access to all facilities.
