Floodgates have been closed in anticipation for high tides tomorrow.
Defences in Herne Bay and Whitstable have today been readied by Canterbury City Council before high winds hit.
The wind will strengthen from the north east - bringing with it a higher tide than predicted at 3.15pm.
No official flood alert has yet been issued by the Environment Agency, but the council is taking the precautionary measure.
A statement released by the council this afternoon says: "Some floodgates will remain open but this doesn't mean we have forgotten to close them.
The forecast will be monitored very closely over the next 24 hours and, if necessary, we will close further floodgates along the seafront.
Our staff will be out monitoring the high tide tomorrow afternoon and operating the sluice gates on the coastal brooks to stop the sea flooding inland."
Tomorrow is forecast to bring a mix of both wind and rain, and the bank holiday sun will all but disappear as temperatures drop.
