Beaumont House smashes guide price in Herne Bay at Clive Emson auction

A former children’s centre in Herne Bay has sold for almost half a million pounds at auction.
Beaumont House, which was previously owned by Kent County Council, is made up of therapy and waiting rooms with offices.
The detached property had a guide price of £220,000 to £240,000, but went under the hammer for £460,000 at a Clive Emson auction yesterday (Thursday).
Auctioneer Kevin Gilbert said: “Beaumont House has huge potential, being a substantial detached property in a predominantly residential area.
“It would lend itself for conversion into residential units should permissions be obtainable.
“Subject to gaining the correct permissions, it might be possible to redevelop the entire site.
“Clearly its potential attracted a lot of bidders who fought fiercely to win the building.”
