The developer behind a bid to build on the former Herne Bay Golf Club is in negotiations with a “major” food store and gym chain to move onto the plot.
Councillors voted through Mark Quinn’s revised proposals to build 93 homes on the plot at the beginning of the month.
The application also included almost 1,200 sq m of offices and 372 sq m of shop space.
Mr Quinn, who runs Quinn Estates, said: “We’re in advanced negotiations with a major food store and a major fitness operator.
“We’re only talking to these two. Their identities will become known in about eight weeks and work will start in three months.”
A separate application to build four houses and a gastropub at the site was also approved by councillors. The developer says he is also in negotiations with a potential operator for the tavern.
