Four teenagers will appear in court accused of a vandalism spree which left cars across Herne Bay covered in paint.

The group were last night charged with criminal damage in connection with the relentless campaign, which targeted parked cars across the town between February 2 and July 18.

One elderly man found his car had been trashed in the Memorial Park, where it had been left overnight.

Mum Christene Wilmont was driving past and took a photo of the aftermath of the incident.

She said: “I’m absolutely horrified this is happening in Herne Bay, especially to the elderly man who has to clean up this mess.

“It’s the third car we have seen in a week. I bet the poor fella is gutted that it’s happened.

"He seemed to be a really nice guy.”

Maria Grenham’s 17-year-old daughter Atlanta was also a victim.

She said: “Her car was hit on Wednesday night with pink and orange gel-type paint and a couple of eggs.

“She was horrified and so worried her car was ruined. She is a learner and has her test coming up and she thought someone was being nasty, but couldn’t understand why.

“Then after posting pictures on Facebook she realised she wasn’t the only victim in Herne Bay.”

Jesse Bath, 19, of Beaumont Street, Herne Bay, and 18-year-olds Luke Loxston, of Sea Street, Herne Bay, Amy Maria Summerson, of Ross Gardens, Canterbury, and Kayleigh White, of Gordon Road, Herne Bay, have all been charged.

They will appear at Channel Magistrates' Court in Folkestone on Monday, December 14.

A fifth person arrested, an 18-year-old man from Herne Bay, has been released without charge.
