A festival dedicated to hit HBO series Game of Thrones is coming to Herne Bay next year.

Throne Fest will feature jousting between the Starks and the Lannisters, the terrifying white walkers, the Iron Throne and the possibility of celebrity guests.

There will also be superfans dressed in their favourite characters and battle reenactments.

Gerald McCarthy from Bay Promo Team, which is organising the event, says despite the shock factor of the TV show it will be a family friendly festival.

“It is so popular I think people will be chomping at the bit to come along,” he said.

“There will be so much going on. We’re in talks with a top jousting team about coming to do a tournament as the Starks versus the Lannisters.

“There are going to be white walkers and of course people will be dressing up in costume.

“We haven’t got a date or venue yet but it will be happening on a weekend, maybe a Bank Holiday.

“We expect it to be very popular. “

He says it will be a good fill-in for people during the long wait for the next series of the show, which is not until 2019.
