A helicopter joined a cross-agency mission to rescue a kayaker who got into difficulty two miles off the Kent coast.
Whitstable lifeboat was launched to a report of a man in a kayak struggling to return to shore near Herne Bay.
The Herne Bay Coastguard Rescue Team and a coastguard helicopter were also sent to the scene two miles off the coast of Beltinge, between the former Herne Bay pier head and the Kentish Flats wind farm.
The incident happened at about 1pm on Friday and a 52-year old man was taken on board the lifeboat and wrapped in a thermal blanket.
He was landed ashore along with his kayak at the Neptune Jetty, and placed in the care of the coastguard team.
He did not require any medical treatment.
