Fire in Richmond Street, Herne Bay, closes road

Fire crews and an ambulance are still on site after a blaze in a block of flats in the early hours of the morning.
Richmond Street in Herne Bay is closed following the incident which residents report as having started just after 4am.
In footage filmed by a neighbour, as many as six fire engines can be seen with smoke continuing to billow from the property in the town centre.
An ambulance can also be spotted on standby with masses of firemen looking to contain and deal with the aftermath of the blaze.
One person involved in the fire has been treated for smoke inhalation and burns.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Six fire engines and a height vehicle are dealing with a fire in a two-storey property in Richmond Street, Herne Bay.
“Crews wearing breathing apparatus are using a combination of high-pressure hose reel jets and main jets, with a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke and fumes from neighbouring properties that have also been affected.
“The cause of the fire has not yet been established.”
