A mum was left “laughing out loud” after watching footage on her doorbell camera of a man grabbing a bag of dirty nappies from outside her house.
The video, caught by resident Katie Jackson, shows him walking down her driveway and taking the bag that was tucked behind her wheelie bin in Herne Bay yesterday afternoon.
Ms Jackson shared the clip on Facebook to warn her neighbours – in case he had been looking for parcels to swipe.
The Station Road resident says she was a bit “taken aback” when she watched the video, but says it gave her and her family a “good giggle”.
The 34-year-old, who has four children including a 10-month-old, had put the bag of used nappies behind her bin as she was unable to put them inside due to the ongoing strikes by some refuse workers in the district.
“To start with, I was a bit taken aback. Then when I realised it was the bag I had put a load of dirty nappies in a couple of days ago, I think I did laugh out loud,” Ms Jackson says.
“Due to the bin strikes, I could not fit it in my bin, so I just stuck it behind until it was empty. It has kind of done me a favour but has made me think now about not having parcels left out.”
Ms Jackson says she would have loved to have seen the man’s reaction when he realised the bag was full of dirty nappies. She thinks he may have been looking for parcels to take so she posted the video on Facebook to alert other residents.
“In the video, you can see him walking away looking in the bag. I would have loved to see his reaction,” she said.
Ms Jackson says she watched the video with three of her children – aged 15, 12 and nine – and her mum.
“They thought it was hilarious,” she said.
“I sent the video to my partner. He thought it was pretty funny – and reading all the comments we had a good giggle.
“I didn't expect much reaction on Facebook, I just thought I would share in case anyone has had any parcels go missing and to make some people laugh. I definitely needed it.”
So far, her video has received almost 500 likes and dozens of comments.
