A main route between Herne Bay and Canterbury has been reopened 10 days ahead of schedule.
The A291 Herne Street was closed between Albion Lane and School Lane two weeks ago for gas main works.
It was originally planned to remain sealed off until Monday, September 3, but has reopened today.
The closure had meant motorists had to take alternative routes along Bullockstone Road and Thornden Wood Road when travelling between the Canterbury and Herne Bay.
The work was part of the second phase of Southern Gas Network’s upgrades in Herne.
The third, and final, stage, which will be carried out early next month, will involve about three weeks of work and closures in Albion Lane.
