Thanet Way in Herne Bay closed as police called to reports of 'distressed woman'

A main road was closed in both directions after police were called to reports of a distressed woman.
Officers were sent to Bowes Lane in Herne Bay after being alerted at about 3.40pm yesterday (Tuesday).
The A299 Thanet Way was sealed off by emergency services as they helped the woman, aged in her 20s.
A police spokesman confirmed this morning that the woman was taken to a place of safety.
The road was reopened shortly after 6pm.
