The Thanet Way was shut for three hours after concerns for a man were raised.
A four-mile stretch of the major route between Whitstable and Herne Bay was closed by police in both directions from 6.35am, but officers have since reopened the road.
It was shut from the Clapham Hill junction to the A291 junction.
The closure was enforced after officers were called out to Bullockstone Road in Herne Bay amid concerns for a man.
To deal with the incident, police shut the Thanet Way in both directions - the closure is causing delays in all surrounding areas.
Police have been contacted for more information regarding the incident.
