A man has been taken to a London hospital with serious injuries after falling from a bridge onto a road.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident in Herne Bay this morning.
Officers were called at 5.52am following a report a man had fallen from a bridge over the A2990 Old Thanet Way to the east of the Greenhill Roundabout.
Emergency services attended and the man, who is in his 40s, has been taken to a London hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
The road was closed while the incident was responded to and reopened at around 10.30am.
Police are investigating the fall and urge anyone who saw what happened, or who has dashcam footage from the area between 5.30am and 5.52am, to call 01843 222289 quoting reference 14-0127.
The traffic delays were exacerbated by the closure of the A299 Thanet Way.
Yesterday it was confirmed the controversial contraflow system is set to return for at least three months while emergency safety works take place.
