A man who left the scene of an accident in Herne Bay was arrested by police on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink.

Officers were called to Sea Street just after 8pm last night to a report of a collision between a car and a van.

The road was blocked and it is reported the driver of the car left the scene.

Officers conducted an area search and arrested a 56-year-old man from Herne Bay on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink.

He was bailed pending further inquiries until 6 May.
