A man in his 60s was taken to hospital after he was attacked by a gang on Herne Bay Pier.
The victim had approached the group after it was seen causing a disturbance between 9.50pm and 10.30pm on Wednesday, July 11.
He was attacked by at least three people and left with injuries across his face.
DC Leah Roberts has appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
She said: "The incident took place in a busy location, and we believe a lot of people would still be in the area, having watched a World Cup match earlier, which was televised on a big screen."
Anyone who has information about the incident should call the police on 01843 222289, quoting the reference number ZY/40363/18, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
