Emergency crews rescued two men stranded on a boat stuck in deep mud.
Herne Bay Coastguard was called to the town's harbour at 8.30pm yesterday after the pair got into trouble.
Teams were diverted from a water rescue training session to the deep mud on the seafront - where countless rescues have previously taken place.
The men were stranded 80m from the slipway.
The crew used mud rescue equipment to rescue the men and bring them to shore.
The boat was secured and the owner plans to retrieve it when the tide rises.
The team was stood down just before midnight.
