Sheds in allotments now been broken into almost 40 times in less than a week after burglars targeted them for a second time.

Police are investigating 17 shed break-ins in Eddington Lane, Herne Bay, on Friday, December 9, when a new fence was also damaged by the intruders.

It comes after 21 reported shed break-ins at the same address overnight on Sunday, December 4, during which a number of padlocks were damaged.

Officers are linking the incidents and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Chief Inspector Mitch Fox said: "We are very aware that these break-ins will have a big impact on the local community and we would like to reassure people that we are actively following a number of lines of enquiry.

"We are appealing to anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in the area on either of the nights in question to contact us. We are also asking people to be vigilant and report suspicious behaviour by phoning 101 or 999 if they believe a crime is in progress."

Anyone who owns a shed on the allotment is asked to check it and report any damage or missing items to the police as soon as possible.
