Workers at a steakhouse have gone viral with a hip-rolling TikTok video about fire safety.

The clip was shared by the Herne Bay branch of Miller and Carter - and has already amassed more than 1.6 million views in four days.

The restaurant's new manager Christopher Bonner - who started four weeks ago - created the video as a way of introducing himself to the local community.

But his profile has stretched quite a bit further than he planned after the clip took off on the social media platform, attracting more than 90,000 likes and hundreds of new followers in a matter of days.

Speaking of his shock at becoming an overnight internet sensation, the 34-year-old said: "My intention was to have a bit of a laugh, get it into the local community and introduce myself as the new general manager.

"It blew up. I posted it at midnight thinking it would get a few looks overnight and nothing major, but I woke up and it had 12,000 views already.

"That was while people were asleep and I was like, ‘who knows what is going to happen?’. It has blown up completely, it is at 1.6million views so far."

The clip shows Mr Bonner dancing with employees - including Sonny Davies, Emma Bennett, Charlotte Line and Niamh Coveney - in the restaurant's car park.

They can be seen hip-rolling to a popular song called Originalton by Jona, which samples one of Captain America's public service announcements from Spider-Man Homecoming.

"So just remember, if you're on fire, stop, drop and roll," he says in the clip. "One more time, say it with me now."

A sample of rapper Semme's song, Do Dat, then plays while the workers dance, with the caption: "Fire safety is our top priority!"

Mr Bonner said his intention was to make people realise the restaurant is "a really fun place to work, it’s a great business to be in and it’s a great place to come and dine".

"We have done a few more videos," he said. "There is a guy called Jack Jenkins [@jackjenkinsofficial] who is based in Canterbury and works at the Marlowe Theatre.

"He has written a song about Miller and Carter for us.

"I commented on one of his videos and said, 'I bet you a steak you can’t write a song about Miller and Carter' - and he has."

He has been running the account with fellow workers Charlotte Line and Emma Bennett, and hopes to continue to attract support from the local community and beyond.
