Carousel reopens after roof collapsed on ride at Herne Bay Pier

A fairground ride has reopened on a pier after a section of the roof collapsed.

The carousel on Herne Bay Pier was closed following the incident which is understood to have happened on Friday.

The ride is now back up and running following a safety inspection and has been deemed safe.

A spokesperson from Herne Bay Pier Trust which runs the attraction said: “We would like to reassure you that no one was injured.

“It is very very rare for events such as this to occur and obviously we are pleased that no one was injured and also with the response of the on-site team who handled the incident.

“All protocols were followed and have been documented and circulated to the appropriate bodies.

“The carousel has now been repaired and inspected by experienced specialists prior to re-opening.

“All of the attractions on the pier undergo regular rigorous safety checks.”
