A greasy spoon in the centre of Herne Bay had a safe stolen during a weekend raid.
The Corner Cafe in Mortimer Street was broken into between 4pm on Sunday and 7am yesterday.
Police believe the incident may be linked to an attempted burglary at a takeaway restaurant in the High Street.
Its door was damaged during the episode between 12.45am and 6am yesterday morning.
Sgt Nick Barton said: "We are looking at the possibility that the two incidents are linked and are following a number of lines of enquiry.
"We are also appealing for anyone who saw either incident or has information that might help our investigation to contact us."
Anyone with information has been urged to call officers on 01843 222289, quoting the reference number 05-0186, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
