A MASKED man who robbed a woman shopkeeper at knifepoint is being sought by detectives.
Mary Harris was working alone at Wall Street Video in Western Avenue, Herne Bay, when the raider struck.
She had been serving children with sweets and Hallowe'en masks and was restocking the confectionery when the man walked in wearing a balaclava and threatened her with a knife. He demanded money from the till and she handed over a small amount.
The incident happened at about 7.55pm on Tuesday. Later, a man fitting his description was seen cycling through the Memorial Park.
He is described as stocky, white, 16-23 years, wearing a three-quarter length black leather jacket over a black t-shirt with dark coloured jeans. Police are studying CCTV footage from the shop and nearby locations.
Mrs Harris and her husband, Harold, from Cornwall Road, Greenhill, have run the general store for more than seven years and have been subject to abuse, verbal threats and break-ins but never anything involving weapons.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Canterbury police on 01227 762055 or the free, confidential Crimestoppers number 0800 555111.
